Products, Process and Precision with MATEER
Mateer fillers successfully handle free-flowing powders and granules such as spices, infant formula and detergents; non-free-flowing powders, such as cake mixes and ground spices; and even creams, pastes and slurries, as in cosmetic creams, peanut butter and spackling paste.
Our process begins with a complimentary test of your product in our Fill Test Lab in Clearwater, Florida. This testing helps to refine the exact filler specifications to ensure the machine we build is tailor-made to the needs of your application, ensuring a perfect match between the filler you choose and the product you want to fill. We’ll determine the optimal agitation and auger tooling combination, check weigh the product, and adjust revolutions to ensure filling accuracy. This attention to detail is how we achieve precision of ± 1.5% in our filling.
Mateer machines are robust, easy to use and maintain, and available to run in semi-automatic or automatic mode, in inline or rotary configurations. They will fill virtually any type of container and can be used in hand-fill, inline and rotary operations. Their versatility and reliability make them a popular choice for Food, Pharmaceutical, Home and Personal Care, Pet Food, and even Chemical applications.
Made from food-grade stainless steel, Mateer fillers resist high temperatures, alkalis, acids and salt. In addition to being easy to clean, changeovers are tool-free and can be done in as little as 10 minutes with a second set of changeparts, maximizing production.
As with other BW Filling & Closing brands, Mateer is supported by superior customer service, OEM changeparts, and expert engineering and field service. Our Mateer dry fillers are engineered for an expected service life of 25 years, and we proudly service active machines installed more than 60 years ago.

MATEER and its History of Innovation
The G. Diehl Mateer company was founded in 1948 as a manufacturer of filling equipment. After being purchased by Berwind Corporation it merged with the Burt Machine Company in 1973, and ultimately the assets of both Mateer and Burt were purchased by Barry-Wehmiller as part of their Pneumatic Scale Angelus division. In 2024, Pneumatic Scale Angelus and sister division Synerlink merged to become BW Filling & Closing, part of BW Packaging.
From humble beginnings as a builder of hand filling machines, Mateer dry fillers are now available in semi-automatic, automatic, and rotary options. They are precise to within ± 1.5%, which can be made even more exact with product testing. Mateer fillers are built to the unique specifications of each customer's needs, with choices from single speed volumetric fillers to rotary units with HMI for easy input, self-diagnostics and access to data that guides productivity.
