BURT 808 Horizontal Roll-Through Labeler

About this machine
About this technology
The Burt 808 is a versatile, consistent and durable labeler, easily handling round containers from 1-3/4” to 8-1/2” in diameter and 1-9/16” to 10” high. In other words, for everything from pharmaceuticals to hot sauce bottles to two-gallon containers of protein powder. Even at this size, labels are precisely applied to round metal, glass, plastic and cardboard composite containers. This durable machine stands up to the rigors of daily production, and, because it’s adjustable, allows you to quickly and easily change sizes and containers. With a Burt, you can seize the opportunity to add a new size or an entirely new product to your line.
The 808 applies wrap-around paper or paper-backed foil or laminate labels precisely and cleanly, without drips, glue spatter or misaligned edges. As a horizontal roll-through labeler, it’s easy to operate and maintain. Although the scale is different, the Burt 808 functions like its smaller counterparts, with a few significant differences. Since it labels larger containers, the speed is slower, topping out at 20 Containers Per Minute (CPM). Operating at that speed is an engineering challenge achieved through the use of a Variable Frequency Drive, or VFD.
The 808 is available in two generations, the 6.0 and 6.2, providing a greater range of options for meeting customer needs. The 6.2 introduces:
Industry-leading PLC and HMI controls for realtime feedback and assessment data. Your team has greater capabilities, can now communicate with the entire production line from a single, centrally-located operations point, and the ability to upgrade and grow your operation.
Servo motors for greater precision and efficiency in label placement, and also upgrades from a mechanical to electrical VFD, providing greater flexibility, easier maintenance and more precise speed control.
Servo-driven line actuators replace the hydraulic units of the 6.0, eliminating the chance of contamination from hydraulic fluid, providing a more hygienic process for the food and pharmaceutical markets.
Product Details
- Designed and built for repeatable precision, providing decades of durability. In fact, labelers we installed 60-70 years ago (before some of our competitors were even in business) are still running smoothly.
- 2 types of conveying available, for the best choices for controlling containers. Dual Flat and Dual V belt control cans, glass, plastic and cardboard composite containers.
- Positive label pick up system ensures there is no glue slinging, cast off or dripping so labels stay clean, supporting your image as a quality brand
- Multiple safety features, such as thumb and palm buttons, clear interlocking mesh doors that stop the machine when opened, interior lights for improved visibility, and a power disconnect with a lock-out-tag-out feature protect operators and ensure accidents don’t become an unfortunate reason for downtime or interactions with OSHA
- Temperature controls for hot melt glue avoids serious damage to the equipment by preventing the machine from being run before the glue is liquid enough
- Belt lap paste is designed as “No container-no paste” feature, so paste can be recycled back into container, reducing waste
- SIKO counters are standard equipment, providing coordinates enabling operators to restart quickly and in position, even after changing containers
- Productivity is paramount, so changeovers can be done in 15 – 20 minutes by a single operator with just a wrench
- New labels can be sized at a glance with the convenient top-rail label gauge
- To keep your productivity high, the 808 is engineered for easy, minimal maintenance
- Lubrication points are clustered together for fast, easy application of grease
- Easily handles challenging labeling projects, such as 2 or 3-piece cans, and especially containers with bails. The Burt’s ability to accurately match up bails and bail ears has made it a favorite choice of the paint industry.
