PNEUMATIC SCALE and its History of Innovation

The Pneumatic Scale Corporation was founded in 1895 when a dry grocer in Quincy, MA realized a machine he had developed for sealing and weighing dried currants could be used for other products, which later expanded to include bottle filling and capping.

In 1989, Barry-Wehmiller purchased Pneumatic Scale, and in 2007, the Angelus Sanitary Can Machine Company which was founded by inventor Henry L. Guenther, who designed and patented machinery for producing double seams on cans.  Combining the two premier companies created a filling, capping and seaming powerhouse of precision and durability.  Since then, the company has become a major global supplier of filling, closing and seaming machines, recently joining forces with sister company Synerlink to become BW Filling & Closing.

Every PNEUMATIC SCALE filling machine boasts high accuracy and advanced control performance. All monitoring and adjustments can be achieved through a simple touch screen interface, allowing for easy recipe changes and machine setup. The PLC control-based technology enables fault detection and diagnosis, with real-time and historical data readily accessible, providing machine-based Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) feedback.

BW Filling & Closing is a recognized leader in the design, production and maintenance of high-speed equipment, and our machines are used across a broad range of industries around the globe. As with other BW Filling & Closing brands, PNEUMATIC SCALE is supported by superior customer service, OEM changeparts, and expert engineering and field service.
